Elaine's Coopers quirky images are a fantastic addition to her highly successful range of prints. Her naive and humorous style is a breath of fresh air, making her Limited Edition prints and originals highly collectable.
She also finds cats fascinating creatures, aloof and independent yet affectionate and loving. The playful cats she paints are not the domestic kitten curled up in the hearth by a crackling fire; they have a special home roaming the alleyways and mysterious passages of these ancient towns, full of humour and fun. It is their world.
With a style all of her own, Elaine Cooper has established herself as a leading contemporary artist: "Being self-taught I felt able to experiment with different mediums such as acrylics and oils and also texture. Eventually my style became looser and I began painting floral images of poppies and sunflowers then branching into the more exotic varieties.
My flowers are never mainstream, I like my subjects to have personality. I love the modern trend towards minimalism, mixing hot Mediterranean colours with cool neutrals."
Inspiration for some of Elaine Coopers' latest paintings comes from sketching and painting the vibrantly coloured old houses & shops of Europe, standing for hundreds of years yet able to adapt to a modern café culture & the 21st century appetite for shopping.
Buildings once derelict have been given a new lease of life now buzzing with modern society combining young and old alike able to sell us a dream. These original paintings & limited edition prints by Elaine Cooper offer us a glimpse into the lives of those who live work and play there.
The 2008 collection of paintings by Elaine Cooper featured traditional, and sometimes more modern architecture observed and painted whilst she was in Northern Italy, the Coastal Towns of Southern France & Englands West Country.
In Elaine Coopers' art a familiar yet developing style interprets the character of buildings, exaggerating perspective whilst giving a texture to crusty exteriors & finding long, narrow alleyways for your imagination to explore.
