John Wilson's love for art began when he won first prize in an Easter card painting competition at the age of 10.

John attended Harrogate School of Art where he was introduced to figure painting and Pop Art.

John Wilson's work was subsequently exhibited in the Harrogate Art Gallery. John Wilson continued painting in his spare time whilst following another career path.

In the mid 1990s John Wilson started exhibiting in his local galleries and now enjoys a high demand for his work and has had several successful exhibitions.

A mixture of media and technique enables John Wilson to create his work. John began using mainly watercolours however now combines gouache on water colour paper to create the vibrant colours. John Wilson likes mixing the style of children's art with the carefully planned paintings of the adult artist. The use of wax crayons in his left hand (being right handed) creates an extremely naïve child like quality.
