Collection: Elena Henderson

Elena Henderson is an artist who uses her paint brush as a powerful means of self-expression. Speaking through her artwork she translates the surrounding world into a profound language of colour, and transforms her emotions into graceful forms and refined shapes and line work. Working in a variety of textured paint and mixed media - Indian inks, graphite, soft pastels, spray paint, gold and silver leaf - she ranges across a spectrum of vibrant shades and intriguing surfaces to create a compelling visual statement.

Henderson’s new collection of semi abstract florals are sophisticated and elegant; her palette is light and fresh while her shapes seem to emerge organically from the canvas to offer an electrifying viewing experience. Before she became an artist she was a florist owning her own shop, and she also worked in the field of interior design for a time. These experiences gave her a deep-seated love of the unlimited colours, varied textures and sheer beauty of flowers, as well as an appreciation of their metaphorical value: “A quickly fading bloom or an unopened bud reflect the types of changes we experience in life."

Based in Canada, Henderson obtained a degree in Design from the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto. In the last five years, she has worked with many galleries across Canada and the United States, while succeeding in numerous solo shows in galleries across Ontario. She currently resides and works as a full-time artist in Orangeville, Ontario.

“My paintings are an emotional manifesto, which emphasize the ultimate visual impact. My uncontrolled imagination is a crucial part of my work and the greatest formation of my visual language. I transform simple and refined shapes into dramatic scenery of graceful forms , brilliant colours and texture. This is where they all together become a true reflection of a forever changing world.”
